Overrun brake damper AL-KO 2.8VB, 351VB, 351VB-2, 43Z (for GROMEX 3500kg)
Double-acting gas-liquid shock absorber for 3.5 ton overrun brake AL-KO type 2.8 VB produced since November 2011 . The shock absorber is housed inside the draw tube of the ramp brake and ensures smooth braking and unbraking of the trailer. Damping is effective in both directions of movement - compression and extension. The compressed shock absorber expands slowly under its own power.

When replacing the shock absorber, we recommend checking the stop ring fitted at the end of the drag tube and adjusting the wheel brakes. Have the brake system adjusted regularly, too much brake system play will significantly reduce the life of the ramp brake damper.
Recommended accessories for the overrun brake damper AL-KO 2.8VB:
1) Stop ring AL-KO 2.8VB (for rod dia. 60 mm)
Flexible rubber stop ring for overrun brake AL-KO type 2.8 VB (3500 kg) with pull tube diameter 60 mm. It is fitted to the pulling tube of the ramp brake just before the fitting at the end of the brake. In operation, the ring protects the rear plastic housing of the ramp brake, together with the double-acting gas-driven shock absorber, from the impact of the steel drawbar mounting during starts.
Damage to the stop ring usually occurs at the end of the service life of the ramp brake damper or when operating with unaligned wheel brake units. We recommend that you check the condition of the stop ring regularly and replace a worn or damaged ring in a timely manner. Timely replacement of the stop ring will save the rear ramp brake housing from damage by the impact of the tow tube mounting.
2) Overrun brake housing AL-KO 2.8VB diameter 60 mm
The original housing for the 60 mm diameter pull tube of the overrun brake AL-KO 2.8 VB/1 is supplied in one piece. However, we recommend that you always change the sleeves in pairs - the front and rear sleeves are identical. Excessive play in one bushing significantly affects the life of the other bushing.
The pulling tube of the ramp brakes has a diameter of 60 mm. The bushing always has a smaller inner diameter and after pressing into the brake body it must be calibrated to the exact diameter of the pulling tube used. Before replacing the bushings, we recommend that you assess the state of wear on the surface of the towing tube and, if necessary, replace the tube together with the bushings. The surface of the towing tube should be completely smooth. Any unevenness of the surface leads to a reduced service life of the new bushings.
CAUTION: After pressing the bushings into the ramp brake body, it is necessary to ream the bushings (preferably with a manual adjustable reamer with extended guide) to the exact diameter of the pulling tube. Before inserting the pulling tube, it is necessary to drill holes for grease in the lubrication points. Improper installation can lead to irreversible damage to the bushings or other parts of the brake system.
We recommend that you entrust the replacement of bushings to a trained workshop with the appropriate workshop equipment. In our service we will reinstall the brake after prior ordering (repair time depending on the condition and age of the brake about 80 - 120 minutes).
