Brake shock absorber AL-KO 2.8VB, 351VB, 351VB-2, 43Z (for GROMEX 3500kg)
Double-acting gas-liquid shock absorber for the 3.5-ton overrun brake AL-KO type 2.8 VB manufactured since November 2011 . The shock absorber is located inside the trailing brake pipe and ensures a smooth braking and de-braking of the trailer. Damping is effective in both directions of movement - during compression and during expansion. A compressed shock absorber expands slowly by its own power.

When replacing the shock absorber, we recommend checking the stop ring fitted at the end of the draw tube and adjusting the wheel brakes. Have the brake system adjusted regularly, too much play in the brake system significantly reduces the service life of the brake shock absorber.
Recommended accessories for the overrun brake shock absorber AL-KO 2.8VB:
1) Stop ring AL-KO 2.8VB (for rod dia. 60 mm)
Flexible rubber stop ring for overrun brake AL-KO type 2.8 VB (3500 kg) with dia. draw pipes 60 mm. It is placed on the trailing brake pipe just before the fitting at its end. In operation, the ring, together with the double-acting gas-liquid shock absorber, protects the rear plastic housing of the overrun brake from the impact of the steel attachment of the drawbar during start-ups.
Damage to the stop ring usually occurs at the end of the service life of the overrun brake shock absorber or during operation with unadjusted wheel brake units. We recommend checking the condition of the stop ring regularly and replacing a worn or damaged ring in a timely manner. Timely replacement of the stop ring will save the rear housing of the overrun brake from being damaged by the shocks of the trailing pipe fitting.
2) Housing brake AL-KO 2.8VB diameter 60 mm
Original case for storing the draw pipe dia. 60 mm overrun brakes AL-KO 2.8 VB/1 supplied one piece. Nevertheless, we recommend always changing the cases in pairs - the front and back cases are the same. Excessive play in one bushing significantly affects the life of the other bushing.
The pull tube of the overrun brake has a diameter of 60 mm. The inner diameter of the bushing is always smaller and after being pressed into the brake body, it is necessary to calibrate it to the exact diameter of the used draw pipe. Before replacing the bushings, we recommend assessing the state of wear on the surface of the towing pipe and, if necessary, replacing the bushings as well as the pipe. The surface of the draw pipe should be completely smooth. Any unevenness of the surface leads to a reduced service life of the new bushings.
ATTENTION: After pressing the bushings into the body of the overrun brake, it is necessary to ream the bushings (preferably with a manual adjustable reamer with an extended guide) to the exact diameter of the draw pipe. Before inserting the draw tube, it is necessary to drill holes for the lubricating grease in the place of the lubricators. Improper installation can lead to irreversible damage to the bushings or other parts of the brake system.
We recommend entrusting the replacement of the bushings to a trained service center with the appropriate workshop equipment. In our service, we will re-encase your service brake after prior ordering (repair time, depending on the condition and age of the brake, approx. 80 - 120 minutes).
