LED pendant lights have significantly lower current consumption compared to incandescent lamps thanks to modern LED technology. However, this can pose a problem for the trailer lighting control circuits of some cars. If the towing vehicle's control circuits are set for incandescent trailer lighting, they detect an error (e.g. a broken bulb) when a low-power LED lamp is connected and in some cases even cut off the power supply. These situations are precisely what the additional load for LED flashlights solves. Primarily, the additional load is intended only for the function of direction indicator lamps (turn signals), because most cars in operation today are equipped with at least a simple indication of a defective turn signal bulb, e.g. by increasing the frequency of the flashing light. The use of an additional load for other LED functions (brake lights, tail lights, fog lights, reversing lights) is not recommended by the manufacturer, but may be functional (we have tested the functionality for some vehicle types). Theoretically, it would be possible to use multiple additional loads for multiple functions (left turn signal, right turn signal, left tail light, right tail light, brake lights, fog light, possibly reversing light). The recommended solution, however, is to have the towing vehicle's control circuitry for the trailer's LED lighting reconfigured by an authorised workshop.
Parameters:
- voltage: 12V/24V
- consumption: 26W
- temperature fuse: 120 o C
- dimensions: 130 x 90 x 20 mm
- cable length: 4 x 1950 mm
Instructions for use:
- the additional load must be mounted on a surface of at least 400 cm2 with good thermal conductivity
- additional ballast must not be installed near fuel tanks and fuel lines
- the device is designed for directional LED flashlights only, even though it can also work with flashlights with other functions
- if the internal circuits of the auxiliary load overheat, the device will automatically disconnect and stop working; after the temperature drops, the device will automatically resume operation
- if the connected LED directional lamp fails, the device is disconnected
- the device automatically detects and adapts to 12V or 24V supply voltage; switching to 24V mode occurs at a voltage of approx. 18V
- colour differentiation of input/output wires: white wire - carcass, black wire - plus pole
- the auxiliary load is connected between the supply to the directional lamps and the lamps, i.e. the cable supply is connected to the input of the auxiliary load and the directional LED lamps are connected to the output of the auxiliary load, with one channel used for the right directional lamp and the other channel used for the left directional lamp
- the output side of the additional load is marked with round rivets with a diameter of approx. 4 mm
The dual-channel device serves both right and left lamps and is suitable for integration into the wiring running along one side of the trailer, for example. For larger trailer widths, where cabling is routed separately on each side of the trailer, it is preferable to use two single channel devices, each located on one side of the trailer.
