The WAS LM7 control unit for combined LED trailer lights simulates the operation of conventional incandescent lamps for the towing vehicle electronics, which controls the trailer lighting and is not yet ready for modern LED lighting with low consumption.

One of the advantages of the increasingly used LED trailer lighting is its very low consumption while maintaining high luminous intensity. Unfortunately, the electronics of some towing vehicles, which also control the correct function of the trailer lighting, are not prepared for such low trailer power consumption and are preset only for much higher current consumption of conventional bulbs. Thanks to their very low power consumption, the trailer's LED lamps are detected as defective bulbs by the towing vehicle and the on-board computer reports an error, possibly disconnecting the power supply to the towing socket. The control unit connected between the towing vehicle and the trailer is designed for these cases. The control unit simulates the load of a normal bulb to the towing vehicle's electronics and the operation of the connected LED lamp is thus trouble-free. The control unit is then able to transmit to the on-board computer of the towing vehicle also any malfunction of the directional LED lamps.
