- It is strongly recommended for use on trailers with a trailer brake on a height-adjustable or raised drawbar, where the movement from the main rod is transmitted to the two-arm brake lever via a cable. The friction of the inner rope against the walls of the braid of this ropeway reduces the return force during unbraking. A spring mounted on the brake rod behind the cable support helps the jaw springs to reverse the movement of the brake rod or the reverse movement of the rope in the cable duct at the drawbar
- The use of spring-loaded liners has also proven to be effective on trailers with extremely long brake rods without outriggers, where the weight of the rod and its pronation during dynamic shocks causes the calipers to open slightly on smaller wheel units with weaker caliper springs. The spring will reduce rod deflections under its own weight on rough roads and help reduce inefficient wheel brake wear
- Plastic insert reduces friction and makes it easier to slide the rod through the cable holder
- Also prevents thread grinding at the point of pulling the rod through the cable holder on the axle
- It is mounted simply by screwing onto the brake rod thread and securing with M10 counter nut (M10 counter nut not included - can be ordered separately see related products)
- In the unbraked condition, the mounted insert should protrude about 30 mm in front of the cable holder so that the spring is slightly compressed. This leaves approx. 120 mm for the brake rod step behind the cable holder. This is also sufficient to override the activated reverse automatic with the handbrake. Normally the maximum brake rod pitch is around 50 mm
